CO-SPONSORED BY NEW INSTITUTE AND THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION, THE FIRST CPAC EVENT IN KOREA DRAWS OVER 1,200 KOREAN CONSERVATIVES

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 — Seoul, Korea // A crowd of over 1,200 engaged conservatives came together at the Grand Hyatt Seoul to attend the first-ever Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Korea, and to celebrate liberal democracy.  This year’s theme, “Make Korea a True Democracy”, drew Korean conservatives closer together, underscoring the goal and importance of the conservative movement in Korea.

CPAC Korea (KCPAC) featured highly respected speakers from the US and South Korea, including; political figures, national security advisors, Asian affairs experts, and esteemed conservatives from the American Conservative Union (ACU) and the Fox News Network.  Topics included; “Democracy in Korea”, “Democracy in America”, “Hong Kong and South Korea: Front Lines in the Battle for Freedom”, and other topics on US and South Korea national security.

KCPAC’s pro-democracy, pro-America message resonated well with Korean conservatives, whose fight against leftist policies and ideologies is resolute and gaining momentum. Organized by the ACU and New Institute, a conservative non-profit organization based in the U.S., KCPAC 2019 was the start of a valuable working partnership for future CPAC events in Korea.

A morning youth training session led by instructors from the Leadership Institute of Washington, D.C. also featured notable conservative speakers and drew over 250 young Korean conservatives. Also worth mentioning, is Paek Hyun-Ae’s beautiful renditions of the US and Korean national anthems to open the program and the exciting finale performance by Choi Sori Arirang Party percussion group.
